Garmin Asus M10 Nuvifone Review

garmin asus nuvifone m10

Upgraded my phone to a Garmin Asus M10 Nuvifone for about 2 months. I upgraded my handset from M1 which includes Car kit and charger. Not too sure about other service provider but the package does comes with Car kit from M1. Personally, I never have a window based phone before and was tempted to go with the “Iphone trend” however the thing strike me which made me bought this phone was the world known navigation brand “Garmin”.

In my case, I did not have any GPS system in my car before and due to my job nature I had to drive around to different location everyday. Though I did not have GPS I did encounter many other brands of GPS own by some of my other friends. I would say the navigation is clear and precise to the point within 5-10m accuracy. And the navigation system was also very user friendly to direct you to the correct lane, pre-amp you which lane to keep to after each turn. Even colleagues who sat in my car notice how different and accurate this phone provides.

The other plus point about the phone is the 5MP camera with a large touch screen for view. Together with the car cradle, I took pictures of others cars with interesting sticker design couple with the 3.5 inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) touchscreen display enable me to zoom into pictures capturing “interesting” details.

The above pictures was taken with a simple tap on the screen. (Notice the car on the right with the cute sticker). After zooming into this picture, I could even see the cute logo at the side of the door. I could even see the number plate of the black car in front.

The down side is that the phone like any other window based phone do hangs while running on lots of applications. One of the alternatives I find useful to free off the memories is to switch off the phone completely and to restart it again just like a PC. Therefore I do it every now and then rather than waiting for it to hang again. Accessories for this model is very limited as I could not find any cover or screen protector particularly for this model. My girlfriend and I went to several mobile phone shops but apparently there are no covers for this model in the market yet.

One thing to note is that for the touch screen as compare to Iphone the sensitivity for this model is not that sensitive at all. So you will found a huge difference if you were changing from Iphone to this particular model. Overall I would give this a 4/5 for navigation, 3/5 for user friendliness, 4/5 for appearance.

I hope the above provides a useful review on the Garmin Asus M10 for your consideration. Feel free to post any questions or comments. Thank you.

i hope by now you would have discovered that you dont need to switch off the hp to restart a lagging phone. theres a built in task manager inside or you can alternatively use a long keypress on the main window using your stylus.
you can shift thru all the opened apps and closed the ones you do not want.
alternatively, when it is showing the clock, by using the stylus, you can do a long press on the clock or the top icon to see the easter egg.

yup I did all those you mention before but still the phone is lagging that why I had not choice but to switch off the hp to restart a lagging phone. But still it is a very useful phone. Had bring around Malaysia for some good food.
